    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington D.C. – Today, Senator Jackson Hill (D-NJ) introduced the Workforce Development and Employment Act of 2020, a bill that aims to provide education and training opportunities to unemployed and underemployed individuals, with the goal of increasing their employability and connecting them with job opportunities.

"The current economic climate has left many Americans struggling to find work, and that is unacceptable," said Senator Hill. "This bill will provide a lifeline to those who need it most, by giving them the skills they need to succeed in today's job market, and connecting them with employers who are looking to hire."

The bill includes provisions for education and training opportunities in in-demand industries such as healthcare, technology, and advanced manufacturing. Additionally, the bill also includes job placement assistance, such as help with building resumes and interviewing skills, as well as on-the-job training and apprenticeships to give participants real-world experience. The bill also includes support services, such as childcare assistance and transportation assistance, to help participants overcome any barriers to employment. The estimated cost for the program is $500,000,000 for the first fiscal year and additional funds for the following years. The Department of Labor will be in charge of the program and will submit annual reports to Congress on the progress of the program.

"The Workforce Development and Employment Act of 2020 is an investment in our future," said Senator Hill. "It will not only help people get back to work, but it will also help strengthen our economy and our communities."

(Senator Hill talking with union leaders)

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Newark, NJ – Today, Senator Jackson Hill (D-NJ) met with union leaders in Newark to show his support for the S.262 Nationwide Right to Unionize Act. The bill, which is set to be debated and voted on in the next docket, would repeal the Taft-Hartley Act, which created the legal foundations for right-to-work states.

During the meeting, Senator Hill discussed the importance of protecting workers' rights and the need for nationwide unionization. He emphasized that the S.262 bill would ensure that all workers, regardless of where they live, have the right to unionize and bargain for fair wages and benefits.

"The Taft-Hartley Act has been used for far too long to undermine the rights of workers and weaken unions," said Senator Hill. "It's time for that to change. The S.262 Nationwide Right to Unionize Act would provide a level playing field for workers across the country and give them a stronger voice in the workplace."

Senator Hill concluded the meeting by stating that he will fight to pass the S.262 Nationwide Right to Unionize Act and that he will continue to work with union leaders to protect the rights of workers.

  4. Madam President,

Today we stand at a pivotal moment in the history of our nation. For decades, women in this country have been fighting for their right to make decisions about their own bodies and their own healthcare. And yet, despite this ongoing struggle, the right to choose remains under constant attack.

This bill seeks to protect a person's ability to determine whether to continue or end a pregnancy, and to protect a healthcare provider's ability to provide abortion services. It is a simple, but powerful, bill that will ensure that women have the right to control their own bodies and make their own healthcare decisions, without interference from politicians.

We live in a nation that is founded on the principles of freedom and democracy. And yet, for far too long, women have been denied the basic right to control their own bodies. From forced sterilization to mandatory waiting periods, politicians have sought to restrict and control women's healthcare choices.

And we are here today to say enough is enough. Every woman has the right to make her own decisions about her own body, and no politician has the right to take that away from her.

We also need to acknowledge that restricted access to healthcare services, particularly abortion services, disproportionately impacts marginalized communities and low-income individuals. It is our responsibility to fight for their rights and to ensure they have access to the healthcare they need, without any barriers.

And let us also be clear, that this bill is not just about protecting access to abortion, but also access to all forms of healthcare. It would protect healthcare providers from being forced to perform unnecessary tests or procedures, being forced to provide inaccurate information, or being restricted in the drugs they can prescribe or the methods they can use to provide care.

Madam President, I urge my colleagues to support this bill. It is a bill that is long overdue and it is time for us to stand on the right side of history, to protect the rights of women and to ensure that they have access to the healthcare they need. We must vote to pass the Protecting the Right to Choose Act. That is why I motion for cloture at this time.

    Thank you and I yield
