  1. Your father texts you, informing you that he's been arrested for DUI and requires you to bail him out.

His friend, the arresting deputy, has indicated that he can bury the story, and your father would simply get a citation for a broken taillight.

Other officers know your father well but like his boisterous personality and will keep a cover-up quiet.

    A) Allow your father to go through the official legal process of DUI.

    OR

    B) You agree to the deputy's offer.

  2. Your son Roger calls you asking for a $1.2 million investment loan. On a recent vacation to Jamaica, he toured the Blue Mountains, where much of Jamaica's coffee production resides. Roger claims he wants to buy a parcel of land and begin his coffee-exporting business.

Your wife is now continuously pressuring you to lend him the money, while Randall has advised you to allow him to see the business plan so he can approve or decline on your behalf.

A)You can tell Roger flat-out no; this will cause more resentment between you.

    B) Inform him that Randall will handle the details and either approve or reject it. This will cause family tension between both of your sons.

C)Accept his offer but lay out a contract concerning business control/management, repayment, interest payments, and monthly financial requests.

  3. A friend in the West Virginia State Police has called your office to inform you that your brother Eliot has allegedly shot a rival farmer in the chest after an apparent dispute where the rival farmer, who is also a neighbour, may or may not have threatened to attack him. The neighbour has survived but is in critical condition at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. The story has yet to break in West Virginia, while Eliot has not been arrested but has been taken into questioning.

    A) Your friend in the state police has said if you give him the word, they would be willing to close the case based on self-defence. This would likely spare your family from the actions of your embarrassing brother.

    OR

    B) You can allow the investigation to go on where Eliot will likely not face any charges, but it will make headlines across the state and possibly national news.

Is there a positive incentive for players to use this system?  Risk bringing reward?

For those who want to develop characters beyond the usual format we use in this game, that is a positive incentive.

  5. The Orbit System

Cwill created the Orbit System to add flavour for players who wanted more spice to their senate characters besides simply introducing legislation, tweeting, writing P.R.s, and giving speeches. Do you want to divorce your spouse? Orbit allowed you to do so. Want to have an affair? Your child reveals their gay, pregnancy, abortion, drugs, alcohol… It was established to allow you to have more roleplay interaction with your character and NPCS connected to your personality.

What went wrong was the introduction of further elements to the Orbit system, political action committees, fundraising, allowing you to influence political decisions…why this system failed? At least one of the reasons was that Cwill allowed players to use this system to overturn election results without the express permission of the A.B. board.

Due to that, my Orbit system will only touch on your senate character and their lives outside of senate dynamics. This will not be for everyone, but that is okay.

    Ground rules:

    1.     When you choose to use Orbit, events that I will start randomly with a character, you may not like or question it, but such is life. Random things will happen to you, so why be surprised with a fictional Senate character?
    2.   This is optional; if you believe this doesn't suit your gameplay, you do not need to sign up.
    3.   I am big on respect; many think I can be mean, aggressive, and rude. If you treat me with respect, I will return the favour. If you are rude, expect me to be rude back. After years of volunteering on the A.B., I've seen many players believe they can treat A.B. members any way they want; unfortunately, if you think you can do that to me, and I will take it, you will try the right one. So just be pleasant, and we'll have a good time with this.
    4.    I am very open to constructive criticism on improving this as we go forward, but if it's just criticism that offers no suggestions, ideas, etc., I will not respond.
    5.    This is an experiment; I am very realistic in saying that I have a feeling only a few players will use this. It will most likely only last as long as I remain a dedicated A.B. member to this, and some will argue there are better needs for me as an A.B. member to contribute to the game. I believe in innovation; anything that can be used to improve player gameplay should be tried. My wife is pregnant, and even in a couple of months, I will be on baby duty; this limits my participation in the A.B. because I believe it will be manageable with a newborn.
    6.       Scandals can happen depending on your actions and personal situations presented to your character; I will roll the dice three times on whether said scandal becomes public. Ultimately, these scandals will ONLY happen on your own decisions, so of course, think wisely about the options I give you.
    7.       Finally, in realism, actions you take will have beneficial or positive consequences; for example, if you tell me that your character, a U.S. senator in the public eye, wants to kill someone or hire to kill someone, just remember, like everything in real life, if you are caught, you are going to prison. So, use common sense with this.

Getting Started: Build Your Life (I am keeping Cwill's text but with major edits)

Players will be asked to create a private biography in their threads.

The bio must be a part of the initial post of your thread, where other aspects will go as well. This private bio is where you can build out any aspects of your life, from dark secrets to fleshing out your story, beginning as far back as you'd until now.

You can use the bio you signed in with, bullet points or whatever; I don't care.

If you want to have a dark secret, you can, but unlike the original system, you will not be forced to have one if you do not want one. Dark secrets cannot quickly get out unless you're unserious and callous, and finding your enemy's secrets will require a complex battle of opposition research. Anyways, you'll have free reign on your private bio, with the A.B. (in this case, me) stepping in to make decisions about realism, if necessary.

    Example of a Dark Secret:

    Medical Condition: Cancer, MS etc

Addiction: Alcohol, Gambling, Drugs, Sex etc

Extramarital affairs, children out of wedlock

Bad business deals, you owe people money

    Connected to organized crime

    Tax problems etc

This bio is essential for the system, as specific NPC interactions and scenarios generated for your character will be based on your life - detailed in this private bio. Have fun with it and develop your unique story; it's between you and God what you put in there (though you could get exposed; more on that later).

As with anyone, their Orbit begins with family; your character isn't different, and you'll love to build out your family. Every player can develop up to five family members within their orbits.

It's important to remember you don't control your family but heavily influence their actions. Rudimentary elements like you holding "Senator X and his family attend church" are acceptable. But making career decisions and the like will be influenced by you but simulated by the A.B. They can come to you with stuff, you can go to them with stuff.

Now, in the unfortunate incident that something happens to your main character, you can take over as one of your family members, whoever you choose, keeping that Orbit somewhat intact.

This is an excellent time to discuss your character's relationship with me. If you'd do anything with your character that involves interaction with an NPC or NPC(s), just hit me up.
