  1. Name: taylor kennedy Media/Outlet: The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Reason: Border Deal "Stephen, this deal is nothing short of a cruel betrayal of American values. It hands unprecedented power to a president to ban entire groups from entering our country. If Jason Roy or any of the other extremist Republicans get their hands on the keys to the White House, they will use it in a terrible way. Have we learned nothing from the darkest chapters of our history? We've seen what happens when we close our doors to those fleeing persecution. This deal would pour billions into militarizing the border patrol and empowering them to further terrorize migrant families in the name of 'security'. Anyone who votes for this bill I would consider as a personal affront against the ideas of liberalism; justice; equality and opportunity." "Operation Stonegarden will turn our local police into an arm of immigration enforcement, breeding fear and distrust in immigrant communities. There are so many stories of corruption flourishing and lying within our border patrol agencies and ICE and we can't allow this kind of vile and reprehensible conduct to seep into our state and local police forces, all to target and hunt down poor immigrants trying to find their piece of the American dream." "If this deal were signed into law, Stephen, by a Democratic president no less, we'll be having a wasteful, ineffective border wall being built. It's unthinkable that any progressive or any Democrat would sign on to building a monument to xenophobia and bigotry pushed by extremists like Senator Roy. We're in a state in which I represent so many millions of vibrant and loving Mexican and Latin-Americans who are either first, second or third-generation immigrants who found their way here and made this country their home. We're a better country because of it. California is certainly a better state because of it. a country built by immigrants, a beacon of hope in a troubled world. But this deal would extinguish that light and tell every immigrant or immigrant family in this country that their presence is a mistake." Name: taylor kennedy Media/Outlet: The View Reason: Border Deal "Whoopi, if I could just say this as a PSA: I call on my fellow Democrats and all Americans of good conscience to reject this heinous border deal. To the people of this country who believe in equal rights and liberty and justice, you have to take to the streets and fight for what's right. We have to stand united against those who would sacrifice our values for political expediency. America is better than this. We must do better than this. The soul of our nation hangs in the balance. As a gay Jewish man, I know all too well the pain of discrimination and the vital importance of America living up to its ideals as a refuge for the oppressed. But this deal makes a mockery of those ideals." "Joy, the ACLU has already called this conservative immigration bill unconstitutional. It worried me that those who negotiated this deal and signed off on it, particularly on the left, did not ensure it was in line with ACLU's standard. Handing any president the power to unilaterally ban entire groups from entering the US is an affront to the Constitution and a dangerous step toward authoritarianism. We've already seen the chaos and suffering caused by these discriminatory bans. Now we want to enshrine that cruelty into law?" "This racist and regressive bill would fund billions to further militarize immigration enforcement, expand inhumane detention, and build a pointless wall that won't make us safer. As it stands this bill will only bring more anguish to immigrant families. Having local police act as deportation agents will shatter community trust and make us all less safe. Gutting our visa system will cut us off from the world. Joy, what are we doing? Why are accepting this? It's almost as if we didn't take to the polls and vote in Xiomara de la Cruz who was the daughter of an immigrant family, from Mexico, no less. With this bill, Xiomara's mother would've been detained by a military border patrol and forced out of our country, after having to climb over a bigoted border wall. It's a reprehensible regression of liberal governance." Name: taylor kennedy Media/Outlet: The Breakfast Club Radio Show Reason: Border Deal "Here's the tea, Angela Yee: this is a bill that appropriates billions to hire thousands more ICE and CBP agents. They will be used to conduct more military-style raids to tear apart immigrant families. They will have more manpower to staff the inhumane detention camps we're expanding. Every dollar is a dollar too much. What we're seeing is a $25 billion wish list for the most anti-immigrant factions of the Republican party, rubber-stamped by a Democratic leadership that seems to have forgotten what we stand for. You want me to vote for this garbage? Get your 'ish together, that's all I'm saying. I'm standing on business against this craziness, man. There's no way this is on the table." "There's a program that is funded in this bill that has flown underneath the radar: it's called Operation Stonegarden. All it does is bribe local law enforcement to become an extension of the deportation machine. It destroys the relationship between police and immigrant communities, making everyone less safe. But sure, let's pour more money into that. It's just not a good idea, Charlamagne. This moment actually reminds me of when Bill Clinton and the Democrats triangulated their way into funding billions of dollars for more cops on the streets. It was bad policy that had terrible consequences on minority communities. A substantial amount of police corruption and police violence against Black Americans and other minorities was expanded under that Crime Bill. This border deal is the Crime Bill but specifically targeting immigrant families. How can we allow this to happen?" "If you look at the visa restrictions in this bill, it would be devastating for businesses, universities, and families. We'd be slamming the door on the best and brightest around the world. We'd be telling the people who innovate, create jobs and enrich our communities to stay out. We'd be telling refugees and asylum seekers, the huddled masses we used to welcome right here in this city where we can see the Statue of Liberty braving our seas, that they're no longer wanted here. What kind of agenda is that when we have so much to fix here domestically? Why would we waste our time targeting people who are trying to come here and make our country better and brighter? It's sad, man. So sad. But you know what? This is why I left Hollywood and ran for the Senate. These career politicians who only see people as chess pieces on their D.C. game board need a real person to stand up and speak out against their bullshit, for real."
  2. Unveiling the Puerto Rican Economic Development, Recovery, and Assistance Act a special message from taylor kennedy "Today I am reminded of the rich tapestry that makes up the fabric of our great nation. From the bustling streets of New York City to the sun-kissed shores of California, America is a mosaic of cultures, each adding its own unique hue to the canvas of our collective identity. And yet, there is one thread in this tapestry that often goes overlooked: the vibrant, resilient spirit of Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico, with its rich history and vibrant culture, has long been a shining beacon of excellence in our nation. From its contributions to music and art to its proud tradition of military service, Puerto Ricans have enriched our society in countless ways. And yet, despite all they have given to America, Puerto Rico finds itself in the grips of a terrible debt insolvency crisis. My friends, this is not just a crisis for Puerto Rico, it is a crisis for all of us. For when one part of our nation suffers, we all suffer. And so it falls upon us, as Americans, to stand up for Puerto Rico in its time of need. My team and I have worked hard on a proposal aims to help Puerto Rico's debt crisis and provide economic assistance. Our bill, the "Puerto Rican Economic Development, Recovery, and Assistance Act" establishes a fund to pay off Puerto Rico's $70 billion debt; provides $100 billion over 5 years in aid by supplementing incomes for low-wage workers, temporary assistance for laid-off workers, and relocation funds; allocates $10 billion for grants to non-profits providing emergency aid, housing, job training, and legal services in Puerto Rico; and develops an oversight board to prevent misuse of funds. But standing up for Puerto Rico is about more than just addressing its financial woes. It is about recognizing and celebrating the immense contributions that Puerto Ricans have made, and continue to make, to our nation. It is about acknowledging the resilience and strength of a people who have weathered countless storms, both literal and metaphorical, and emerged stronger for it. And so, my friends, I call upon each and every one of you to join me in standing up for Puerto Rico. Let us not turn a blind eye to the struggles of our fellow citizens, but instead, let us extend a helping hand in their time of need. Let us work together to find solutions to the challenges facing Puerto Rico, and let us do so with the same spirit of unity and resilience that defines our nation. Please, my friends, let us never forget the words of the great Puerto Rican poet, Julia de Burgos: 'I am life, strength, and will to succeed'. Let us honor those words by standing up for Puerto Rico and ensuring that its vibrant spirit continues to shine bright for generations to come. Thank you for your time and grace. Peace and love always."
  3. Peace and Love Rally In San Diego, California a taylor kennedy speech "My fellow Americans, my fellow Californians, I stand before you today profoundly troubled by the escalating xenophobic rhetoric and draconian immigration policies that are tarnishing the very ideals upon which this nation was founded. We are a nation of immigrants, a shining beacon of hope and opportunity that has beckoned to the 'huddled masses yearning to breathe free' since our founding. Time and again, immigrant communities have been the pillars upholding our economy, enriching our culture, and defending our liberties on the battlefield. And yet, in recent years, we have seen a disturbing resurgence of vilifying rhetoric that paints immigrants as criminals, rapists, security threats - demonizing the most vulnerable among us. Children torn from their parents' arms. Asylum seekers treated like criminals and kept in unconscionable conditions. Is this really who we are as a nation? Make no mistake, I am a stalwart advocate for border security and the respectful enforcement of our laws. But there is a world of difference between secure borders and walling ourselves off from the world with hatred and fear - a complete betrayal of our founding identity as a nation of immigrants. Throughout our history, immigrant communities have been subjected to ignorance, discrimination, and even violence born of these same prejudices. The Chinese Exclusion Act. The St. Louis tragedy where Jewish refugees were turned away to face genocide. The unconscionable internment of Japanese Americans. These shameful chapters in our history serve as a stark reminder of where xenophobia and scapegoating can lead. So today, I say no more! We are so much better than this! It is time to pass comprehensive immigration reform that provides real pathways to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, many of whom have been crucial members of our communities for decades. It is time to expand and safeguard the asylum process to ensure we do not turn away those fleeing war, famine, and persecution. And yes, it is time to robustly invest in developing nations and conflict resolution, so that vulnerable families are not forced from their homes by violence, poverty, and environmental catastrophes in the first place. For every migrant hoping for a better life, we should see not a threat but human dignity; not an 'invader', but a potential citizen, entrepreneur, soldier, first responder. My friends, this is a moral imperative and an economic necessity. At our best, America has drawn strivers and innovators from every corner of the globe to forge an unparalleled cultural dynamism and economic engine. To turn our back on that legacy would be nothing short of national self-sabotage. So I say to you: open your hearts and your minds. Push back against the fear and prejudice being cynically stoked for political gain. Remember your own immigrant story and that we are all part of the same inextricable human family. Only then can we truly live up to that highest of American ideals: e pluribus unum – out of many, one! Thank you so much San Diego! Peace and love!"
  4. Unveiling the U.S. Immigration Dignity and Development Act a special message from taylor kennedy "I called on my amazing staff to help craft sound legislation addressing key aspects of immigration reform and I thank them for delivering. It's time for real, permanent solutions to fix our broken immigration system. For too long, we have allowed partisan bickering and misinformation to divide us on this crucial issue. But we are a nation of immigrants - it's a source of our strength and part of what makes America exceptional. That's why, as U.S. Senator, I am committed to working across the aisle to pass the U.S. Immigration Dignity and Development Act and finally establish a clear pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants already living, working, and contributing to communities across this country. This bill is rooted in common sense and American values. It allows undocumented immigrants who have been in the United States since at least the start of this year, have no felony convictions, and meet standard background checks to apply for a 5-year conditional permanent residency. After that 5-year period, if they remain employed or in school and learn basic English, their status will be upgraded to full permanent residency and U.S. citizenship will be in reach. We're not giving anyone "amnesty" - they must pay fees, pass strict requirements, and earn their place in line. But we are finally providing a reasonable, fair path forward for millions of good people who have been living in legal limbo for far too long. To handle anticipated application volumes, this bill funds hiring 200 new immigration judges and staff over two years and building 10 new immigration courts in underserved areas to quickly clear backlogs. Because justice delayed is justice denied. The legislation also overhauls and streamlines asylum processes, raising the refugee cap to 500,000, ensuring vulnerable groups like LGBTQ refugees get priority handling, and mandating all asylum claims are reviewed within 180 days. This expedites relief for the persecuted while maintaining rigorous vetting. Taking a holistic approach, the bill assesses areas for new legal ports of entry on the Southern border to facilitate orderly migration. It provides critical security and economic aid to stabilize Venezuela, a major source of recent outflows. And it funds humanitarian travel aid, shelters, food, and medical care for incoming migrants in need. Crucially, it establishes grants for states to offer education, workforce training, English classes, and community programs to help integrate immigrants already living here undocumented. Because we are not just bringing in workers, but new neighbors enriching our American family. This pragmatic, humanitarian, and fair reform will secure our border and keep families together. It upholds our heritage as a nation of immigrants, restarting the tradition of the sturdy Golden Door beckoning those yearning to breathe free. I call on all Americans to join me in ushering in this long overdue new era for immigration."
  5. taylor kennedy | Instagram Live Video Statement "Hey everyone, I'm thrilled to announce a rally in San Diego in support of immigrants. Immigration is the lifeblood of our nation, enriching our culture, economy, and communities. It's what makes America truly great. But sadly, some Republican politicians seem intent on declaring war on the very ideals that have defined us for generations. They're turning their backs on the values inscribed on the Statue of Liberty and the rich history of American immigration. We cannot stand idly by as they demonize immigrants, tear families apart, and sow fear and division in our communities. It's time to stand up, speak out, and show our unwavering support for immigrants and refugees who seek a better life in America. Join us in San Diego as we come together to celebrate diversity, promote compassion, and demand justice for all immigrants. Together, we can build a brighter, more inclusive future for our country. See you at the rally!" taylor kennedy would go on to answer questions from those in the Instagram live comments; talk about Ketanji Brown Jackson becoming the first Black woman on the Supreme Court and expressed his gratitude for the love and support he has received since becoming a U.S. Senator.
