  1. I think this seat was taken previously by General Eric
  2. Press Release: Atkins, Freeman Veterans Bill Set To Pass Washington, D.C. - Senator Kimberly Atkins (R-AZ) and Senator Gary Scott Freeman (R-SC) sponsored the Veterans Debt Fairness Act to reduce burdens on those who have served our country honorably. The legislation is poised to pass the U.S. Senate with unanimous support. Read the full statement below: "The passage of this legislation will mark a renewed interest in veteran's issues. It's a great honor to partner with Senator Freeman on this vital bill, to help our veterans and reduce the costly burdens that are on them from the VA trying to recoup suspected overpayments. I'm glad that this common-sense legislation has rousing bipartisan support all the way 'round."
  3. Name: Senator Kimberly Atkins Media/Outlet: Face The Nation on the CBS Reason: Liberal Media Bias; Policy failures of the Democrats "What we're seeing is a left-wing media onslaught that is designed to focus America's attention off of the massive failures of the Democratic party. We have a president who barely shows up to work, two Senate Majority Leaders is two quarters of the new session. This new majority leader is yanking radical left wing bills off the Senate floor left and right. We can see their extremist vision, they're telling us in plain sight, but the White House and leadership in Congress cannot even get their own party behind it, it's so bad! It's failure after failure after failure and all the left-wing mainstream press can talk about is the words of a labor union leader who comes from a cesspool of corruption and unverified, unchallenged words of a bitter staff member who worked for the failed former Democratic leader. This is a disgrace in journalism. The mainstream media is playing games with America's trust by finagling over salacious rumors and ignoring plain facts staring us right in our faces." "Let's take a look at this radical and extreme left-wing agenda, whereby the socialists in the party pull the strings of an absent and fly-by-the-wind president, and somehow they're still ineffective. The race-baiting, twitter-loving Entropic Everhart had the Equality Act on the floor, that would have enshrined this New Age liberal indoctrinating social culture on the American people. He had this radical and extremist economic bill, that would have raised the minimum wage to $15 an hour, which most economists estimate will lead to massive job losses and potentially throw the youth economy into chaos as they try to compete for entry-level jobs that should be readily available. Then he had this rather extremist abortion promotion bill. We call it the Abortion Promotion Bill, because the entire legislation is ripe with provisions focused on making sure doctors and medical staff encourage and almost harass women about their option to get an abortion, goading them to not pick the right choice that's best for them but to pick abortion. It would've had taxpayers spending on paraphernalia shoving abortion in their face: abort the baby, abort the baby! Really and truly disgusting legislation. What happened to all of these extremist proposals? The fickle, half-hearted Entropic Everhart, leader of the Democrats, showed us the vision for the country to see the Democratic party's true intentions and their true agenda, then he pulled it from the floor, as he realized it wasn't going to get the kind of support he thought it would. If that's not chaos, I don't know what is. That's what the mainstream media should be focused on." "We've had military families devastated after a helicopter crash killed some of our country's brave Americans. What does the president do? Releases a statement through a low-level aide and doesn't bother to address the American people. She has turned her back on the same U.S. military that gave her an opportunity to serve something bigger than the Hollywood pageantry she was a part of. It's a clear sign to the American people that we don't have a visible and vocal leader in office today, we have a hidden and quiet coward."
  4. Press Release: Senator Atkins Criticizes Democrat Agenda To Promote Abortion Washington, D.C. - Senator Kimberly Atkins (D-AZ) criticized the Democrat's agenda on abortion. Despite Roe vs. Wade being the law of the land, Democrats have pushed a much more extreme proposal on America's women. The "Women's Health Protection Act" from radical feminist Heather James of Washington mandated that doctors encourage women to seek an abortion, a significant step beyond freedom of choice. Read the Senator's full statement below: "The radical Democrats were caught with their pants down on this one. The Majority Leader can pull this bill from the floor but we all saw exactly what the liberal extremist plan was. It was to actually promote abortion, not protect the rights of women. Abort your children is what the Left is telling America's women. They want to mandate your doctors to encourage you to get an abortion. They want to inundate you with pro-abortion paraphernalia. This is not even an issue that is relevant at this time, with Roe vs. Wade enshrined into federal law thanks to the High Court, yet the Democrats wanted to sneak this bill in and use the government as an instrument to promote women receiving abortions. Before the bill was pulled by the Majority Leader, it was clear some Democratic Senators were even opposed to the radical proposal, including Indiana Democrat John Carlsen voting to table the bill."
  5. Press Release: Senator Atkins Blasts Liberal Media Bias and False Allegations Washington, D.C. - Senator Kimberly Atkins (D-AZ) descries false allegations being perpetuated by the mass media, including the increasing and unabashed left-wing bias permeating the mainstream press. Read her full statement below: "We have seen entire news cycles dedicated to salacious stories about backroom deals and gamesmanship, but nothing rooted in facts. The media used to have a standard against printing and spouting hearsay to the American people. Unfortunately those standards have been thrown out of the window. The stridently liberal media has taken the words of a union boss who is part of a corrupt legacy and an ousted leader with bones to pick, and is selling newspapers and advertisements based on these stories, trying to tarnish and intimidate a fellow conservative colleague. What we're seeing is a growing lack of care for America's time and trust, among many members of the press. We're seeing a crisis of fake news be spread through mainstream media, being fed to the American people with an aggressive liberal slant. This is not going to end anytime soon as members of the press hawk leftist talking points and defend a president who has no guts, no vision, and no care to even address the American people."
  6. Kimberly Atkins Born Kimberly Diane Smith October 26, 1964 (age 53) Tickfaw, Louisiana Avatar: Jan Brewer/Kim Mulkey Political Party/Caucus Affiliation: Republican party, Freedom Caucus Spouse: Michael J. Atkins Children: 10 Paul Atkins Erica Atkins Riley Atkins Nathan Atkins Gary Atkins William Atkins Robert Atkins Angela Atkins Oliver Atkins Ava Atkins Parents: Robert Smith; Lisa Perry Residences: Phoenix, Arizona; Washington, D.C. Education: University of Southern California (B.A.) Early Life, education and family Kim Smith was born and spent her childhood in Louisiana, raised in a Methodist family, as the middle of nine siblings. When her parents divorced at 13, Kim moved to Arizona to live with her wealthy grandparents. She played basketball in high school and began attending the University of Southern California in 1982. She played NCAA basketball for USC and won the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship in 1983 and 1984. Smith graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy. Smith returned to Arizona after graduation and married a local businessman, Michael J. Atkins, becoming Kimberly Atkins in 1987. She worked on the coaching staff of the Arizona Wildcats women's basketball team beginning in 1988. In the meantime, Atkins and her husband had ten kids between 1987 and 2002. Coaching career and political activism After being an assistant coach on the Arizona Wildcats women's basketball team for four years, Atkins became head basketball coach in 1992 and became known for her colorful pantsuits and vibrant outfits on the sideline. Atkins and her husband became known for hosting fundraisers for local and state politicians throughout the nineties. Atkins was elected as a Republican National Committee member from Arizona in 1991 and worked for the Arizona RNC for ten years, between 1992 and 2002. In 2000, Atkins and her husband worked on John McCain's presidential campaign, including raising money for the candidate. In 2001, Atkins stepped down as Head Coach of the Arizona Wildcats women's basketball team to pursue a career in politics. Political career In early 2002, Atkins created a campaign committee to run for the office of Secretary of State of Arizona, to replace outgoing secretary of state Betsey Bayless. Atkins ran against the Phoenix councilman Sal DiCiccio in the primary race and won by a narrow margin of just 23,000 votes. As secretary of state, Kim Atkins instituted a vote-by-fax program for overseas military troops, which was later adopted by other municipalities, including San Francisco. Atkins also helped to marshal changes brought about by Arizona Proposition 200, which required citizens in the state to show proof of citizenship before registering to vote or applying for public benefits. Atkins endorsed John McCain's second presidential campaign in 2008. After Governor Janet Napolitano was selected by President Obama to be the Secretary of Homeland Security in January 2009, Atkins was next in line to serve as Governor, given Arizona's lack of a lieutenant governor. Atkins became Arizona's fourth female governor and its third consecutive female governor. The next year, Atkins ran for a full-term as Governor, beating out her Democratic opponent, Terry Goddard. In the 2012 GOP presidential primaries, Governor Atkins endorsed Ron Paul's campaign. She later backed Mitt Romney's campaign after he won the nomination. In 2016, Governor Atkins declined to endorse in the primary elections, but backed the McCord campaign against the Democratic nominee, Xiomara de la Cruz. Atkins declined to run for Governor again in 2014, citing legal challenges in Arizona's term limit structure for governors. However, in 2015, Atkins formed an exploratory committee to begin raising money for a U.S. Senate run in 2016, following the announcement of John McCain's decision to retire. Atkins ran and won Arizona's Class III Senate seat, becoming a United States Senator after officially being sworn-in on the Senate floor in January 2017.
