  1. PRESS OFFICE OF SENATOR GEORGE BENNETT (D-CT) OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Office of U.S. Senator George D. Bennett Rose Fuller, Communications Director William Henderson, Press Secretary Q4, 2023 Bennett Announces Endorsement of Actress Rachel Cook for President of the United States For Immediate Release BRIDGEPORT, C.T.-- Senator George D. Bennett (Democratic-Connecticut) announces his endorsement of Actress Rachel Cook for President of the United States. When asked by a News 12 Reporter the Senator said "I am proud to endorse actress Rachel Cook for President of the United States. While I wish her and the other presidential candidates luck in this race, the others don't resonate with me and my policies all that much. It was a hard endorsement to make considering so many Progressives running for President, but Rachel Cook brings the change we are all waiting for—someone who's not as part of the Washington establishment as myself. I look forward to seeing how she does in these primaries." Senator Bennett paved the way on saying that, "While my endorsement is only for me, I stand with other Democrats decisions to endorse other candidates for president, even if I don't like their policy or the way they plan to govern." The Senator continues to ensure that all Democrats voices are heard, saying that "I hope all the candidates do well in the presidential primaries. I'm happy to see more debate and discussion from these candidates about the pathway forward without President Biden."
  2. Name: Senator George Bennett Media/Outlet: CNN Reason: Promoting Unified Aid Bill Senate Republicans and House Republicans have failed their duties to our allies. Israel and Ukraine need funding and it's time for them to stop the political games. I agree with the Senator from Virginia, my colleague Mister Starnes that there is foul play here, House Republicans want seperate bills but they only want that to kill Ukraine funding. Matt Gaetz wants to call Ukraine a soviet state that's why we shouldn't fund it? Get out of here with that. They were used as slaves by the soviets, they didn't willingly join the USSR.

  4. PRESS OFFICE OF SENATOR GEORGE BENNETT (D-CT) OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Office of U.S. Senator George D. Bennett Rose Fuller, Communications Director William Henderson, Press Secretary Q4, 2023 Bennett Announces Opposition to H.R. 565 - Securing Israel Act For Immediate Release BRIDGEPORT, C.T.-- Today, Senator George Bennett stands defiant in his principled stance as he announces his opposition to H.R. 565, the Securing Israel Act. As a dedicated public servant, staunch advocate for peace, and a proud member of the Jewish community, Senator Bennett has carefully evaluated all aspects of this bill and expresses his concerns regarding its potential implications. Senator Bennett, while acknowledging Israel's right to self-defense, emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive and fair resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His position arises from the belief that a lasting peace must be based on negotiations and mutual understanding between all parties involved. The Senator believes that H.R. 565 may inadvertently hinder the prospects for dialogue, exacerbate tensions, and adversely affect the chances of a peaceful coexistence. Citing Israel's approach and actions vis-à-vis Palestine, Senator Bennett expresses his deep reservations regarding the long-term consequences of Israel's continued efforts to erase the Palestinian identity and their perceived disregard for international law. He firmly believes that a just and lasting solution should respect the rights, aspirations, and dignity of both Israelis and Palestinians alike. Additionally, Senator Bennett raises concerns about the prioritization of military funding over essential domestic and social programs. In a time when American citizens face countless challenges at home, the Senator believes that an appropriate allocation of resources is crucial. Consequently, he opposes the substantial funding proposed to support the Iron Dome system and further military assistance to Israel. While unequivocally supporting the security and well-being of the Israeli people, Senator Bennett emphasizes that his opposition stems from a deep-rooted commitment to principles of fairness, justice, and the pursuit of enduring peace. He stands ready to engage in constructive dialogue with his colleagues, addressing alternative strategies to ensure the security and prosperity of both Israel and the Palestinian people. As the conversation around H.R. 565 unfolds, Senator George Bennett welcomes a respectful and open debate on this important matter. The Senator is confident that his colleagues will respect his position and engage in meaningful conversations that prioritize the pursuit of a peaceful resolution and a future of shared prosperity in the region.
  5. LIVE: Bennett Joins Ana and Cenk on TYT To Discuss Israel-Hamas War Transcript of Sen. Bennett's interview with Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur on TYT Ana Kasparian: Welcome back to TYT! Today, we have a special guest, Senator George Bennett from Connecticut, to talk to us about the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. Welcome, Senator Bennett! Senator George Bennett: Thank you, Ana. It's a pleasure to be here on TYT. Cenk Uygur: Senator Bennett, let's dive right into it. The Israel-Hamas conflict has been devastating for both sides, and there are calls for a ceasefire. Where do you stand on this issue? Senator Bennett: Well, Cenk, I stand firmly in support of an immediate ceasefire. The loss of civilian lives and the destruction we've seen in Gaza and Israel is heartbreaking. This conflict has gone on for far too long and with no end in sight, it's imperative that we bring an end to the violence. Ana Kasparian: Senator Bennett, we've seen other elected officials maintain a staunch pro-Israel stance, often to the detriment of the Palestinian people. Can you explain your position on this matter? Senator Bennett: Absolutely, Ana. My support for a ceasefire and my concern for the Palestinian people does not mean I am anti-Israel. On the contrary, I believe in the state of Israel's right to exist and defend itself, just as I believe in the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and a dignified existence. Cenk Uygur: Senator Bennett, you've also recently expressed your opposition to S. 324: Unified Aid Bill, which seeks to increase aid to Ukraine. Can you elaborate on that? Senator Bennett: Certainly, Cenk. While I am an advocate for providing aid to countries in need, I believe that this bill, in its current form, is not taking into account the realities on the ground. We need to reassess our foreign policy approach in the region and make sure our aid is being utilized to promote peace, stability, and respect for human rights. Ana Kasparian: Senator Bennett, as someone who's been critical of the Israeli government's actions, have you faced any backlash from your colleagues or interest groups? Senator Bennett: Well, Ana, this is a sensitive and divisive issue, and I understand that there are varying perspectives. However, I firmly believe that as elected officials, it is our duty to voice our concerns and speak up for what we believe is right, even if it differs from the mainstream narrative. I have certainly faced some opposition, but I believe that an open and honest dialogue can lead us to better and more equitable solutions. Cenk Uygur: Finally, Senator Bennett, what steps do you believe should be taken to achieve a lasting peace in the region? Senator Bennett: A lasting peace in the Israel-Palestine conflict can only be achieved through open negotiations, respect for international law, and a commitment to guaranteeing the rights of both Israelis and Palestinians. The United States can play a crucial role by fostering dialogue, supporting multilateral negotiations, and allocating resources to promote development and stability in the region. Ana Kasparian: Senator Bennett, we appreciate your time today and your willingness to discuss this important issue with us. Thank you for joining TYT. Senator George Bennett: Thank you both for having me. It was a pleasure to be here and engage in this crucial conversation.
  6. Name: George Bennett Media/Outlet: The Young Turks Reason: Opposition to the Unified Aid Bill. Reason 1: Lack of oversight when it comes to funding for Ukraine worries it will fund more military contractors. Reason 2: We cannot rely solely on military action for Ukraine; we need diplomatic efforts to end the war. Reason 3: We need to focus on domestic issues, like LGBTQ+ rights being destroyed by Republicans and abortion rights being destroyed by Republicans across the country.
  7. PRESS OFFICE OF SENATOR GEORGE BENNETT (D-CT) OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Office of U.S. Senator George D. Bennett Rose Fuller, Communications Director William Henderson, Press Secretary Q4, 2023 Bennett Announces Opposition to S. 324 - Unified Aid Bill For Immediate Release BRIDGEPORT, C.T.-- In a bold move reflecting his commitment to a progressive foreign policy, Senator George Bennett today announced his opposition to S. 324: The Unified Aid Bill to Ukraine. Despite the widespread bipartisan support for the legislation, Senator Bennett is taking a principled stance based on his belief in a more nuanced and strategic approach to international relations. Senator Bennett emphasized the need for a comprehensive and thoughtful foreign policy that considers the long-term consequences of international interventions. In a press conference held earlier today, he highlighted his concerns about the potential unintended consequences of a one-size-fits-all approach to foreign aid. "While I fully recognize the importance of supporting our allies and promoting global stability, we must approach foreign aid with a strategic and progressive mindset," Senator Bennett stated. "This is not a reflection of a lack of support for Ukraine or a disregard for the geopolitical challenges in the region. Rather, it is a call for a more comprehensive and thoughtful examination of our foreign policy priorities." The Senator went on to outline his vision for a foreign policy that prioritizes diplomatic solutions, multilateral cooperation, and a focus on addressing the root causes of international conflicts. He stressed the importance of engaging with the global community to find sustainable solutions that benefit not only the United States but also the nations receiving aid. In explaining his opposition to S. 324, Senator Bennett expressed concerns about the potential militarization of aid and its impact on the overall stability of the region. He called for a more nuanced approach that includes diplomatic initiatives, economic development, and support for civil society. "While I appreciate the intentions behind this legislation, I believe we can do better. We must resist the temptation to rely solely on military solutions and instead focus on addressing the underlying issues that contribute to instability and conflict," Senator Bennett asserted. As Senator Bennett takes a stand against the Unified Aid Bill to Ukraine, he invites his colleagues to join him in a broader conversation about the future of U.S. foreign policy—one that is rooted in progressive values and a commitment to building a more just and stable world.
