Senator Stewart: "de la Cruz's Ascension To Presidency Marks The Epitome Of America's Decline"

"This is an incredibly low-point in American history. Americans should be afraid of what's in store for our future. I did not believe we could have anyone in the Oval Office less experienced and more radical than Barack Obama, but now we've elected a mayor of one of the most corrupt cesspools in the country. de la Cruz's ascension to the presidency marks the epitome of America's decline. de la Cruz is a mere puppet of the globalist elite, who do not care for the interests of everyday Americans. de la Cruz and the Democratic party take hundreds of millions of dollars from globalist billionaires in exchange for policies that leave our borders open and allows our country to be infiltrated by criminals and vagabonds and those who want to remove the ideals of our country and replace them with globalist and secularist socialism. This cabal has ruined our country's economy, taking away our jobs and shifting America's economic prowess to other countries, on the backs of real hard-working Americans. These globalist special interests, along with a corrupt media and Democrat politicians have been working together to steal America's middle-class - our jobs, prosperity, and pursuit of happiness. The America we know is now over. However, real American patriots can begin to turn the tide and take our country back from those who want to fundamentally change what it means to be an American. I will work everyday in the Senate to reject the radical left's extremist agenda and stem the downward spiral of the current trajectory of America. I believe strongly in the leadership of Cliff Fleming, Doug Murphy, and Jim Jordan in this endeavor."

Senator Stewart Swears-In; Begins Term Fighting For Working-Class Pennsylvanians

"In 2001, along with hundreds of my friends and neighbors, I was laid off from a factory job when they decided to pick-up and move to Mexico. Sixteen years later, the people of Pennsylvania - a state wrecked by the economic policies of the bipartisan Washington/Wall Street globalist cabal - have sent me to Washington to fight for them. Minutes after swearing into office for my first term, I introduced legislation that would repeal NAFTA, the disastrous bipartisan trade agreement that led to the destruction of my hometown and many towns across our country. Thanks, Scranton, for believing in me and I will always fight for you."

Senator Stewart Introduces Legislation Repealing NAFTA

"The Wall Street special-interests comingled with the power-hungry career politicians in both parties to develop the disastrous so-called 'free'-trade policies. This bipartisan Washington and Wall Street globalist cabal - developed by Bill Clinton and inherited by de la Cruz - ruined our country by selling out the everyday American in places like my hometown of Scranton. It is time to bring our jobs back and punish the companies that have stolen our prosperity from hard-working Americans. This job-killing trade deal must end, and I will work everyday in the Senate to ensure it ends."

SENATOR STEWART INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO ENHANCE AND ENFORCE THE DEPORTATION OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

"America has consistently been invaded by the worst of the worst from other countries. These illegal immigrants come in packs, infiltrating our country; spreading crime; and ripping job opportunities out from under hard-working American citizens. It has harmed working-class communities of every ilk, including many Black communities. We must enforce the laws on the book and shutdown our border, protect our country, and deport these criminals and vagabonds back to their home countries. Our nation is full and we must focus our resources on uplifting real, everyday Americans who've invested their blood, sweat, and tears into their country. The legislation I've introduced today expands ICE's ability to do its job and order the Department of Homeland Security to enforce the law and protect our Southern border."

SPEECH IN WISCONSIN ON PAUL RYAN & THE VISION FOR A NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY

Senator David Stewart delivered a speech to working-class, union voters in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin

"I don't have to tell you that our country's politicians have left you behind. There's an old guard, prominent political establishment who are wolfs in sheep's clothing. For years, the Republican party has been defined as defenders of the big business interests and those on Wall Street who we've always said promoted our economic growth. The truth is, working class Americans have powered our country's growth and its Wall Street and big business who have ruined our country. These people have colluded with Republicans, colluded with Democrats, through special interest groups, to trump your vote and rule a shadow government that serves them - not you! That is why I will not back down. When I lost my job to factories uprooting and moving to Mexico and the financial crash that they created crushed my business, I have been determined to renew America and make our country great again.

The fight we're waging right now in Washington is a fight we must win. It's not about who will become Speaker of the House, it's about the symbolism of Paul Ryan's downfall. Paul Ryan represents everything we need to fight against in the Republican party and in the Democratic party. He's a creature of those globalist special interests. Ryan has advanced their interests with charm and arrogance, telling you and I that we cannot have what was promised because it costs too much while proposing to give tax breaks to Wall Street vagabonds that play games with America's economic growth. Paul Ryan voted for those bank bailouts, giving a golden parachute to the very people who took away everyday people's pensions, homes, and changed their livelihoods forever.

Here in Wisconsin, thousands and thousands of jobs have been outsources to other countries, leaving many of us to fend for ourselves after taking away our pride and dignity of a good-paying job. After ripping out our jobs, they paid off our politicians, donating to Paul Ryan and others in both the Republican and Democrat parties. de la Cruz raked in millions and millions from Wall Street this past election and we can expect her to do their bidding. But I'll be damned if the Republican party will continue to be complicit in this globalist scheme that has ruined many of our lives forever.

Ryan's reign and the reign of Republicans of his ilk must come to an end! We will redefine the Republican party as the sole political party across the nation committed to working people. We will stop advancing anti-union interests. We will focus not on tax breaks for the wealthy but improving the financial stability and upward mobility of everyday Americans. We will protect our country from the open-border policies the left and even some Republicans are pushing, that will permanently replace the America we have come to know and love. We must reverse the globalist trade policies that have upended our economic base and left you and I hanging out to dry.

We have the opportunity to begin that work right now. We've got to unify and push our party toward the future and finally defeat the Washington Political Machine who partner with Wall Street and the Media establishment to look down on hard-working Americans and ignore our plight of ghost-towns and blighted Main Streets. Now is the time to replace globalism with Americanism. I will fight for America First, which means fighting for you and working to restore America's greatness!"

SENATOR STEWART: DEMOCRAT PRIORITIES PROVE TO BE FOCUSED ON DIVISIVE SOCIAL ISSUES AS DE LA CRUZ TAKES OATH

"As the inauguration of de la Cruz gets underway, she and her party have already shown their hand about the priorities they have during the first 100 Days: dragging America through divisive culture wars aimed at demonizing religious people and looking down on traditional values. Every Democrat Senator has launched a Twitter war targeting religious liberties and dragging Americans through the mud in an attempt to force their capitulation to their coastal, left-wing lifestyles. They do not care about the common man, the working man - they simply care about reducing America down to sexualities and pro-nouns. It's shameful. We need to focus on reversing the economic turmoil created over the last twenty years due to corporate-backed, Democrat-led trade deals like NAFTA. Globalism is America's biggest threat, not small-town families trying to live their lives the best way they can, with God as their witness."

Joint Statement on “Draining The Swamp Act” & Opposition To Peter Orszag’s Return To Government Bureaucracy: Ending The Revolving Door of Organized Corruption

An Open Letter from Senator David Stewart of Pennsylvania; Senator Jason Roy of South Carolina; Senator Jim Cambridge of Iowa and Senator Bill Whitaker of Kentucky

“The question of our time is whether or not we will continue to allow our country to be governed by the corrupt political and corporate class. Central to this question is an issue that’s presently before us: the nomination of Peter Orszag to return to the Office of Management and Budget, a job he held previously in the Obama administration before cashing in on his political connections to get a job for the Citigroup bank.

Citigroup, once the nation’s largest bank, played games with Americans' hard-earned money by taking unhinged risks. Using his influence in the White House, Peter Orszag helped Citigroup escape accountability, even after taking billions and billions of dollars from taxpayers to be bailed out. Orszag was an economic power player in Bill Clinton’s administration during the repeal of Glass-Steagal, the regulatory legislation that would’ve prevented Citigroup’s conglomeration of commercial and investment banking, which led to significant risk-taking. After his stint in the Clinton administration, Orszag cashed checks as a corporate consultant, using his experience in government to pad his pockets. Peter Orszag enriched himself on the back of public service before and we have no reason not to believe he will do it again. He cannot become a part of this administration.

President de la Cruz’s nomination of Mr. Orszag to the Office of Management and Budget sends an unmistakable message that while she may have made history as the first woman president, she’s still more of the same. The new President is not a change-maker but is proving instead to continue the status quo, appointing members of her cabinet who are a part of the revolving door between political consultancy, Wall Street money-making, and government bureaucracy. They are all enriching each other, passing our hard-earned tax money around amongst themselves.

That is why we need to ‘Drain The Swamp’. We have unveiled legislation that accomplishes this mission through a host of ethics reforms for members of Congress and the president’s cabinet. This legislation, which has received the support of the Chairman of the Democrat party, would begin the process of ending the revolving door of organized corruption.”

Overview of Senator Stewart's Recent Public Appearances

large_Spacey_Marquee_NOW.jpg

Town Hall #1, Quarter 1, 2017, Carnegie, Pennsylvania:

"The ship has sailed on repealing Obamacare. The best we can do, at this point, is do everything we can to bring down the costs. First of all, the Republican party of old would love for you to think healthcare was perfect before the ACA. I don't have to tell you how untrue that was. I remember when I was still working at the plant, or even when I owned my own business, it was the most expensive thing in the world. And you didn't have the kind of protections you do now where insurance companies can't deny you because of a pre-existing condition. So to throw the whole thing away would not be beneficial to working people like us. It might be good for the wealthy politicians who can cash in with Big Pharma and sell us down the river like they do on so many other issues. However, we have major problems with the current system if you're a working man or woman who makes too much and can't get subsidies but too little and can't afford coverage. For those people, I've already begun work to start bringing those costs down! I just filed legislation, including an amendment to a very popular and bipartisan bill, to allow states like ours to receive grant money to reduce your out-of-pocket expenses and premiums and such. I also signed on to that bipartisan bill to allow us to negotiate for lower prices on much needed medicine - bringing overall out-of-pocket health costs down for so many of us Pennsylvanians."

Attends St. James Chapel COGIC (Black Church), Celebrating Black History, Quarter 1, 2017, Reading, Pennsylvania:

"I will tell anyone who asks: yes, I am a Republican and yes, Black History is incredibly important. To ignore Black history is to ignore the width and depth of America's greatness. The challenges African Americans in this state and around the country face in their daily lives is incredibly important to me. It does us no good, no matter who we are, to pretend there are no challenges of which we face. The mission of Dr. King's movement to ensure our country keeps its promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is still alive and well and I'm glad to be a part of it!"

Attends Event Honoring Abraham Lincoln, Quarter 1, 2017, Penn Hills, Pennsylvania:

"President Lincoln's success through struggle revealed the great bridge between principle and progress - and it's a bridge forged in resolve, compromise, and commitment to the preservation of our union."

SENATOR STEWART: DEMOCRATS ARE FAILING WORKING PEOPLE BY REJECTING NAFTA RENEGOTIATION

"By voting down the opportunity to get NAFTA renegotiated, the Democrat party have made it abundantly clear that they are on the side of the financial elite. They've made every excuse to try and avoid addressing the real issues presented by free trade, rejecting the opportunity to urge the president's administration to make the trade deal better for working-class Americans. This is not a shocker by an inflection point for Pennsylvanians and the American people in realizing who is here in Washington to fight for them and who is here to do the bidding of the Wall Street special interests and Big Business. I will continue to work in bringing back manufacturing jobs to Pennsylvania and giving hard-working people opportunities to thrive."

SENATOR STEWART'S AMENDMENT TO REDUCE HEALTHCARE PREMIUMS PASSES WITH BIPARTISAN SUPPORT

"The Affordable Care Act is in need of major reforms. I went out on a limb and accomplished one of the few reforms to the law in order to lower costs for Pennsylvanians and everyday American people. By empowering states to lower premiums, we're delivering a big win for working families who cannot currently afford healthcare's exorbitant out-of-pocket expenses. Easing burdens on Pennsylvanians is at the core of my values as I serve everyday in the Senate chamber."

SENATORS, STEWART & VAN HORN, INTRODUCE LEGISLATION TO INCREASE PENALTIES FOR COP-KILLERS

"With Paul Watford's defense of a cop-killer making national waves, I want to make clear that these killers deserve the death penalty. No perpetrator of a murder of a police officer, a brave member of our law enforcement, should ever see the light of day again. We must send the message to the American people that defending our law enforcement is a high-priority. Our great men and women who defend us every single day should have the entire country and their leaders supporting them 100%. This is a much-needed proposal."

SENATOR STEWART: I FULLY SUPPORT THE EL CHAPO ACT

"El Chapo is evil and deserves to be locked under our jails. This individual has ruined so many lives, destroying families and burning up young souls. I'm glad he's being extradited but I believe this is an awesome opportunity for America to use his ill-gotten assets to further our moral agenda of protecting our border and keeping drugs and criminals like him out."

MINORITY LEADER: I LOOK FORWARD TO REBUILDING OUR PARTY AND WORKING WITH OUR NEW PRESIDENT

"I am obviously heartbroken by the former president's cancer diagnosis and need to step down. In the meantime, I look forward to working with the new president on issues related to immigration and border security; reducing our national debt and eliminating excessive spending; supporting our law enforcement, our troops, and our veteran families; strengthening our national defense; and America's energy independence.

I also look forward to rebuilding our party from the ground up. We will unify the Republican party, as I pick up the mantle entrusted to me to work across the whole of our party to mend broken fences and establish a new paradigm for the future of conservatism."

MINORITY LEADER PRESSES SENATE DEMOCRATS TO GET MOVING ON TOP DIPLOMAT POST

"We are at a critical time in the world, with foreign policy challenges across the global landscape. We cannot afford to hold up the nomination for Secretary of State any longer. We must get moving. Instead of trying to ram through a massive minimum wage increase; social engineering legislation; or abortion promotion bills - all of which he has had to backtrack on - I urge the majority leader to make the Secretary of State nomination a top priority. Let's start her hearings; get the debates up and running and move toward get this top diplomat post filled."

SENATOR STEWART STATEMENT ON TERRORIST ATTACK IN THE U.K.

"We have to protect our country from Radical Islamic Terrorism and heighten the guardrails on those coming into the United States from nations with high terrorist activity, including Syria. I support a temporary pause of refugee processing, while we establish extreme vetting procedures for refugees coming through the system. I also support a temporary pause on travel from Muslim-majority nations that do not meet the best of standards in terms of vetting or have high rates of criminal terrorist activity and upheaval, such as Libya; Iran; Somalia; Sudan; Syria; Yemen; Egypt; Saudi Arabia; the UAB and Turkey. We have to keep our country free of terrorism and terrorist activity and those who want to do us harm. I call on the president to do whatever it takes to protect our nation and secure our border."

SENATOR STEWART OPPOSES FEDERAL GRANTS TO CALIFORNIA

"While I believe the federal government has a responsibility in most cases to take on a bulk of disaster relief, the collapse of a small element of the I-5 in California is a unique situation. The state of California is more than capable of restoring the bridge portion that collapsed through reallocation of funds. I believe that the structure offered up by Senator Atkins to make any federal money for the California-specific project should have been on a loan basis. The amendment to make less than half of the $5 billion a loan is not sufficient stewardship of the Pennsylvanian's tax dollars, when the state of California has an overflowing savings account that is sitting untouched with billions of dollars in it. I would have also liked to see some kind of a public-private partnership to handle the infrastructure cleanup and repair and invite in corporate sponsorship, instead of a fully-government run endeavor. I will be pushing for members of the Republican-majority in the House to clean this bill up and send it back."

SENATOR STEWART: I AM UNABASHEDLY PRO-UNION

"Today I co-sponsored the National Right to Unionize Act, to prevent states from using the government to oppose unions and aid in the the decline of union membership. I was a union worker for many years before our job was shipped overseas. I began my time in the Senate pushing for the repeal or renegotiation of the disastrous NAFTA trade agreement that shipped jobs overseas. I worked to try and secure union support for Republican candidates on the condition that our party would push itself toward more being a more overtly pro-worker party. I am still committed to that work and I am unabashedly pro-union."

SENATOR STEWART: PETRAEUS HISTORY OF SCANDAL & MISHANDLING CLASSIFIED INFORMATION IS "DETRIMENTAL"

"My duty to this great nation and the state of Pennsylvania transcends party lines, and it compels me to speak truth to power. The nomination of David Petraeus for Secretary of Defense is nothing short of an insult to the integrity of our national security. Let us not forget Petraeus's tarnished legacy, marred by scandal and reckless disregard for classified information. As a Senator sworn to protect the interests of the American people, I cannot in good conscience endorse a nominee who has proven himself unworthy of the trust bestowed upon him and therefore it was detrimental to his prospects of receiving my vote. President Dough Murphy's decision to nominate Petraeus, in addition to his flippid attitude towards border security, speaks volumes about his lack of seriousness when it comes to safeguarding our nation. It reeks of political expediency over genuine concern for the safety and security of our citizens. I refuse to be complicit in this charade. My vote against Petraeus is not a partisan maneuver; it is a principled stand in defense of the values that define us as a nation. We deserve leaders who prioritize competence and honor above all else, and it's time we hold President Murphy accountable for failing to deliver on that front."

SENATOR STEWART FIGHTS FOR WORKING CLASS PENNSYLVANIANS WITH TAX CUTS, ENERGY PROPOSAL

"It seems the swamp monsters of D.C. have once again reared their ugly heads, thwarting the efforts of a lone voice crying out for the hardworking men and women of our great state. I introduced an amendment aimed at putting $5,000 back into the pockets of our blue-collar workers and slashing gas prices by opening up the West Coast to oil drilling. But alas, the entrenched interests of the corporate political establishment, entrenched in both parties, have conspired to snuff out this beacon of hope for our working families. They'd rather cozy up to their high-flying donors than lift a finger to ease the burdens of everyday Americans. I thank my cohort of colleagues in the Freedom Caucus for standing beside me on this while the rest of Washington cowardly impeded progress. Let me be clear: I am not beholden to the suits in Washington or the fat cats on Wall Street. I am a fighter for Pennsylvania workers, and I will not rest until our people are given the relief they so desperately deserve. This latest episode is precisely the kind of politics I ran against, and I will not be deterred. I will continue to be an independent voice, tirelessly advocating for the interests of working people and steadfastly opposing the machinations of the D.C. elites."
