Biography:

David John Stewart was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on August 19, 1960, to John and Mallory Stewart. His father worked in a textile factory while his mother worked a job at a local drugstore for many years. David grew up in Scranton, graduating from high school and joining the United States Air Force. He served in the military for four years, returning home to a factory job at Thomson Consumer Electronics, a manufacturer that produced picture tubes for televisions. He worked there, locally in Scranton, for nearly 20 years, before the factory moved to Mexico, where it could pay workers far less. David, unemployed with four young children at home, took a loan out of his home and developed an art-house theatre out of an abandoned warehouse. The Stewart Theatre became known as a second-run theatre that provided food and drink service offered at cabaret-style tables in front of each row of seats, with an aisle between each row. The theatre became a local gem, as it grew at a steady pace in customers and revenue. However, the financial crisis of 2008 proved too challenging for the theatre to survive in a local economy that was already economically insecure. As such, David was forced to shut down operations and liquidate. Angered, David became much more politically active. He invested all he had in developing an online news and blog site that developed its roots in slamming the bank bailouts of 2009. David traveled to Washington, D.C., frequently participating in protests against the Affordable Care Act, and launched a YouTube channel that began gaining traction among right-wing conservatives. By 2010, the site was part of the conservative Tea Party movement. And by 2012, David's media company was bringing in just over $250,000 a month in revenue from online subscriptions and ad revenue. American Revolt had also become prominent for its frequent criticisms of the Republican establishment. In 2013, by this time a fixture of right-wing conservative media while still residing in Scranton, announced a congressional campaign for the eighth congressional district, blasting immigration reform efforts and focusing on populist economics. After defeating incumbent Republican congressman Mike Fitzpatrick during the primaries, David glided toward victory in the November mid-terms. During his one-term tenure, David began exploring a run for the U.S. Senate, seeking to take down Senator Pat Toomey. After defeating Toomey in the primaries, David narrowly defeated his Democratic opponent in the 2016 election.
