About Elijah and the Founding of The Report.:

The Report was founded by Elijah Alexander Davenport. He is a proud graduate of North Carolina A&T Univeristy in Greensboro, North Carolina. As a student at NCAT Davenport majoried in Journalism and instantly fell in love with writing and news reporting. During the summer leading up to his senior year, Davenport interned as a journalist intern for the Greensboro New & Record newspaper. There he assisted with editing, print formating, administative duties and much more. Two months after graduating, Davenport landed a position at one of his favorite magazines, Jacobin. As a writer there, Davenport published nearly 50 articles discussing race relations, economic policy, Palestine, criminal justice reform and historical analysis.

In 2007 Davenport was offered an Assistant Editor’s position at In These Times Magazine where he not only managed the Magazine’s Opinion Section but also contributed an additional 10 published works on Palestine and Race Relations in the United States. He later was tapped in 2009 to work as a Script Writer with Democracy Now! Where he worked closely with the script team to proofread and edit the script for the daily broadcast of the show.

By 2012 Davenport wanted to start his own venture and created The Report, a magazine focused on national politics through a progressive lense. Since 2012, The Report has been covering national politics and has published work criticizing the nation’s growing wealth gap, continued tensions between communities and law enforcement and the plight of working class Americans.
