Kyle Fitzgerald was born on November 11, 1967 in Lufkin, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University and was a member of the Corps of Cadets, graduating in 1990. After college, he served in the U.S. Army and deployed to the Gulf War with the First Cavalry Division. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1994, he returned home to work for his father's timber trucking company, eventually taking over the company himself. In 2006, he entered politics and was elected to the Texas State Senate from the 3rd District. He was re-elected in 2010. In 2012, he was elected to the U.S. Senate. He and his wife Annie have one child.
