  1. Name: Senator Tony Johnson (R-OK) Media/Outlet: CBS Morning News Reason: The new Democrat party agenda; the president's foreign policy; and the Border Crisis "Gayle, the president and the Democratic party are crafty messengers. This entire gambit is a mission to distract the American people away from the border crisis that is having an immediate and negative impact on American families. However, these ideas are not even the best we can do. It sounds good on surface, but the truth of the matter is that collectively, the so-called 'American Family Pact', is a slew of proposals that will not raise people's wages but instead increase inflation exponentially. Not to mention the fact that we have a President and a Democratic party who have had nine years of rein over our economy. The problems that exist now are problems they've failed to deal with or outright caused. Our economy is stagnant, with too many Americans employed but running-in-place financially. This can only change with conservative economics that grows our economy, spurs competition and expands opportunities and gives Americans more choice" "These overhanded squeezes on American businesses will force them to increase revenue in other ways, such as by raising the price of your milk, your eggs, and your overall grocery bills. When you're talking about raising the national minimum wage to $15 in a place with already low cost of living, small businesses will be crushed and the hourly workers at the local grocery stores will see that pay increase immediately sucked-up by high grocery bills while everyone else in the community has their budgets squeezed, as well. Most hourly workers work in the service sector, meaning that grocery stores, restaurants, and hotels - all of the prices will be raised and Americans will be saddled with inflation." "Coalition forces worked three years to beat back ISIS in Mosul. However, radical Islamic terrorism has unfortunately spread throughout the Middle East, into Africa, and infiltrated Europe. They're present in Latin America and there's reason to believe terrorists are approaching or have already breached America's lax and open borders. While the White House and the Democratic party are taking a victory lap over a bloody Mosul battle that was won with increasingly diminished returns, we're seeing terrorism challenge our will in many places around the Globe. It's not enough to drone attack and support rebels, we need a much more comprehensive strategy."
  2. The Black Community Is Being Decimated By Illegal Immigration An Open Letter from Senator Anthony "Tony" Johnson As a Black Republican Senator, I feel compelled to address an issue that has been largely overlooked in discussions about immigration: the negative impacts of mass illegal immigration on the Black community. While the topic of immigration often evokes passionate debates about border security and humanitarian concerns, it is essential to recognize the significant economic and social consequences that illegal immigration has on Black Americans. First and foremost, mass illegal immigration undermines economic opportunities for Black Americans. The influx of undocumented immigrants into the labor market drives down wages and reduces job prospects for low-skilled workers, who are disproportionately Black. Studies have shown that illegal immigration leads to increased competition for jobs in sectors such as construction, agriculture, and service industries, where many Black workers are employed. This competition results in depressed wages and reduced bargaining power for Black workers, making it harder for them to support themselves and their families. Furthermore, mass illegal immigration exacerbates existing disparities in education and employment within the Black community. Black Americans already face significant barriers to accessing quality education and employment opportunities due to systemic racism and discrimination. The influx of undocumented immigrants further strains public resources, including schools and social services, making it even more challenging for Black families to access the support they need to succeed. This perpetuates cycles of poverty and inequality that have long plagued our communities. Additionally, the negative impacts of mass illegal immigration extend beyond the economic realm to social and cultural factors. Black Americans have fought tirelessly for civil rights and equal treatment under the law, yet mass illegal immigration undermines these hard-won achievements. The failure to enforce immigration laws erodes respect for the rule of law and creates a sense of injustice among Black Americans, who rightly expect fair and equal treatment from their government. Moreover, the forced cultural assimilation of illegal immigrants into American society can dilute the unique cultural identity and heritage of the Black community, further marginalizing Black voices and experiences. It is crucial to acknowledge that addressing the negative impacts of mass illegal immigration does not equate to xenophobia or intolerance. As a nation founded on the principles of liberty and justice for all, we have a moral obligation to welcome immigrants who come to our shores seeking a better life. However, we must also recognize the importance of enforcing our immigration laws and protecting the interests of all Americans, including those in the Black community. To address these challenges, we need an emergency border security package that prioritizes enforcement of immigration laws, and pathways to legal status for undocumented immigrants already living and working in the United States. This approach would not only uphold the rule of law and protect American workers but also promote economic growth and social cohesion. In conclusion, mass illegal immigration has detrimental effects on the Black community, including negative economic impacts and exacerbation of existing disparities. As a Black Republican Senator, I urge policymakers and stakeholders to prioritize the needs and concerns of Black Americans in discussions about border security. By working together to address the root causes of illegal immigration and promote fairness and opportunity for all Americans, we can build a brighter future for our nation. 3. Name: Tony Johnson, former General, Senator from OK Media/Outlet: Don Lemon Tonight on CNN Reason: Immigration; Van Horn Bill; and Combating Terrorism "We must address border security with the urgency that the crisis deserves, ensuring that we protect all Americans, including those in the Black community who have been disproportionately affected by illegal mass immigration." "Senator Kyle Van Horn's tireless efforts to expand a barebones bill to combat the opioid crisis are commendable. It's crucial that we take comprehensive action to address this epidemic and provide support to those struggling with addiction." "It's disappointing to see the president attempting to politicize the opioid crisis through tweets. This is a serious public health issue that requires bipartisan cooperation and real solutions, not partisan grandstanding." "Drone attacks alone won't eradicate terrorism; we need a more focused agenda that includes diplomatic efforts, targeted military action, and potentially increased ground troop presence in regions where terrorists have taken root." "Lax immigration policies have allowed terrorists to exploit power vacuums in regions like Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as infiltrate Europe and Africa. Strengthening our borders and enforcing immigration laws are crucial steps in safeguarding our national security."
  4. Name: Tony Johnson Media/Outlet: The Lead with Jake Tapper on CNN Reason: Border Security; El Chapo Act; Vet Bill Collecting Dust "Well, Jake, the situation at our southern border is undeniably dire. As a former General, I understand the critical importance of border security in protecting our nation and its citizens. The surge of illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and violent crime poses a significant threat to the safety and security of our communities. It's clear that the current Democratic leadership, along with the President, has failed to effectively address this crisis. We need decisive action, and that includes the construction of a border wall. A physical barrier is a crucial component of any comprehensive border security strategy, and it's time we prioritize the safety of our citizens over political posturing." "Jake, it's deeply concerning to see Diego Everhart and President Murphy fail to take decisive action on a bill that could significantly bolster our border security efforts. The proposal to seize El Chapo's assets and allocate them towards strengthening our border is a common-sense solution to a pressing problem. By allowing this bill to languish, the Democrats are not only failing to prioritize the safety and security of American citizens, but they are also effectively protecting drug traffickers and cartels who pose a grave threat to our nation." "Jake, it's deeply disappointing to see the President fail to sign a veterans bill that passed with unanimous consent, as it languishes on the president's desk collecting dust. Our veterans have selflessly served our nation, risking their lives to protect our freedoms, and they deserve our unwavering support and gratitude. By refusing to sign this bill, the President is sending a troubling message about his commitment to our veterans and their well-being. It's unacceptable that our veterans are burdened with debt from the VA, especially when they have sacrificed so much for our country. This bill would have provided much-needed relief to those who have served, easing their financial burdens and ensuring they receive the support and care they deserve. I urge the President to speed things up and prioritize the needs of our veterans above all else. Our servicemen and women have sacrificed for us, and it's time we honor their commitment and sacrifice by ensuring they have access to the resources and support they need to thrive after their service. Anything less is a disservice to those who have bravely served our nation."
  5. THE GENERAL'S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER SENATOR TONY JOHNSON "Hi, Oklahomans. The General, here. I'm addressing you from my kitchen table. The same kitchen table Laura and I would have breakfast and dinner with Junior. I love my family and I would be devastated to see anything happen to them. That's why the terrorist attack in Birmingham aches my heart as it does. Serving in our Marine Corps for so long, I have seen terrible violence and evil permeate throughout our land and it still continues. I want every Oklahoman to be safe, feel confident in the nation's security, and do everything they can to protect their loved ones. Rest assured, as your U.S. Senator, I will be pressing the administration on better ways to shore up our defenses, protect us from evil-doers, and provide American families the safety and security we need. God bless you and and Pray for Birmingham" - /s/ ANTHONY JOHNSON /s/ !BEWARE! IMPORTANT REMINDER The Department of Homeland Security and FBI have released a directive to major concert and sport venues across the United States to maintain high alert in the wake of the bombing overseas. Do not panic but be smart. Our Senate Office is in touch with local and state security officials and have urged them to provide enhanced protection to sports venues such as the O'Brate Stadium; the Paycom Center; and other venues. VOTES AGAINST BAD CABINET NOMINEES The nominations of Michele Flournoy for the Department of Defense and Peter Orszag for the Office of Management and Budget are bad decisions for one reason: both individuals lack good judgement. Flournoy's role in the Obama administration and Clinton-run foreign policy was a disaster and Peter Orszag's fondness for walking in and out of the revolving door between Wall Street and Washington is even less endearing. Both nominations are a threat to Oklahomans and I gladly voted against them. CALIFORNIA SHOULD TAKE A FEDERAL LOAN The fight over federal resources is always a tough battle for someone who is budget-conscious like myself. The idea to give California a loan to repair a collapsed bridge of the Interstate-5 that runs up through Oregon and Washington is a sensible idea. If a viable loan program is not included in the deal, I will not vote for the I-5 Relief Act. California is one of many states that have mismanaged their own state budgets and now they are looking for hard-working Oklahomans to pick up the tab. I don't want to and I'm sure you don't either, so you can count on me to defend our pocketbook-sanity. That's all for right now. Please invite your Oklahoma friends and neighbors to stay informed and sign up for my newsletter. If you have any comments or issues you'd like to address, my e-mailbox is open for the incoming: generaltonyokc@senate.gov works just fine.
