Mr. President.
I would like to respectfully state my objection to the motion made by my dear friend the Senator from the good state of Utah. My objection Mr. President is based on the fact that this is a state issue. In general. If the states had a similar way of approaching the opoid epidemic federal funds would be helpful, however, this would serve as a reward for states who have failed to enact proper legislation to combat this epidemic. For instance, two states place no limit on the amount of opiods a doctor can prescript, fourteen states have only loose guidelines. In some states these guidelines only apply to medicaid reciepients. Mr. Presidents. I agree with the valiant cause, I just cannot agree with opening the checkbooks without fighting the root of the problem.
