  1. Name: DNC Chair Jon Krol (D-NY) Media/Outlet: NBC Meet the Press Reason: S. 66 - Democrats are committed to getting critical aide to our allies in the global battle for freedom. I’m glad my Republican colleagues have come around on Ukraine. But we cannot allow the President to unilaterally appoint a board, with no Congressional oversight, to dole out $30 billion. I personally have written three amendments so far to add various checks and balances to the Democracy Defense Commission but the Republican Majority has rejected everything in the name of giving the President a blank checkbook. - The process on S.66 has been all wrong. Our Republican counterparts should have called us before bringing this bill to the floor. It means something entirely different to have a meeting over doughnuts with a white board and scratch paper rather than hash out amendments to drafted legislation on the Senate Floor. They can say they want to work together all they want but their actions show something very different. - Any legislation on the border must include a compassionate pathway to citizenship for immigrants who haven’t broken any laws other than their entry into the country, as well as protection for Dreamers who arrived as children through no fault of their own. If people come to America and have lived here, becoming valued members of their communities, and built a home here, we need to make sure we’re not causing them irreparable harm. We also need to address the root causes of migration - the chaos and disorder in Central and South America. S.66 fails on all of this.
  2. Name: DNC Chair Jon Krol (D-NY) Media/Outlet: Fox News Sunday Reason: Democratic v. Republican Agendas My colleagues and I have made it very clear, from Day One of this new Washington, that we are the party of positive change. Reproductive health, housing, equal pay, health care, education rights, integrity in government, voting rights - we've got a plan on all of it to enact meaningful, positive change to make lives better for the American people. The message out of the new President and her allies in Congress is fear, fear, and fear. Republicans are coming out against everything and for nothing. When was the last time a Republican proposed a new policy to make American lives better, rather than fighting to roll back something that they don't like? I think they just wake up in the morning, grab a newspaper left over from the Obama or Biden Administrations, and find something we did that they want to undo. I'm glad we have such a great Speaker in Hakeem Jeffries so that we can continue to show that Democrats are the sane party of government. Just look at his first docket in the House compared to the Senate Republicans' first docket. It is night and day. We're fighting to make your house more affordable, your health care more personal, and your family time more secure. That's what we should be doing in the Senate, and I hope we get to that point soon. We have big issues in this country - let's address them.
  3. Senator Krol Speech at 2025 Women's March "Thank you! I am so glad to see so many people here today to stand up for women! Yesterday, America made history by inaugurating our first female President. But don't let anyone fool you - Leah Ross is no ally to women. She has shown with her campaign rhetoric and her cabinet nominations that she is simply a continuation of the horrible women's rights record of Donald J. Trump. How will Ben Carson's HHS address mifepristone access? How will Ellen Lord's DoD protect service members' reproductive health needs? How will Allen West's* FBI ensure women aren't hunted across state lines for seeking an abortion they need? Do not let Leah Ross' historic moment trick you into complacency: women's rights are in danger - nationwide. Thankfully, we have a robust Democratic majority in the House and many dedicated Democratic Senators who will stand as a check on the Ultra MAGA radical agenda. Women fought for their rights for generations, we will fight to restore the rights women enjoyed for 50 years until the Republican Supreme Court took them away, and we will not let this new Administration roll them back any further. Thank you! Thank you!" * At the time of the speech, it was widely reported that former Congressman Allen West was going to be appointed Director of the FBI. That decision was rescinded after heavy backlash on the incoming Administration.
  4. Democrats Pledge to Fight for Women at 2025 Women's March, Republican Attacks Continue Numerous Democratic Senators, Congressional Representatives, and activists joined hundreds of thousands of others from across the nation to loudly declare their support for women, in opposition to the oppressive reality of the new Ross Administration. Senate Democratic Whip Janice Kamaka (D-HI) gave a very well received speech in which she warned "[President Ross] is no friend of reproductive rights nor is she an ally in the fight for an equitable society for all. While she profits off of conflict overseas, she has made clear her intention to do the bidding of the most extreme anti-choice elements of the Republican Party right here at home and enact their agenda." Senator Naomi Wolfe (D-GA) spoke to the millions of women trapped in anti-abortion states and said "We are going to stand with women in my state of Georgia who face one of the most punishing abortion bans in the country, led by a governor dripping open contempt for women's rights to their own bodies; and we are going to stand with women across the country fighting for their reproductive rights." Senator Madeline White (D-MI) urged President Ross to take advantage of the moment be a champion of women, saying "The most powerful person on the planet is the President of the United States. If that person is a woman, there is no excuse for not making consequential steps in eliminating the underrepresentation of women in key positions of power. This is the responsibility of this Administration." DNC Chair Jon Krol (D-NY) frankly reminded the crowd "Do not let Leah Ross' historic moment trick you into complacency: women's rights are in danger - nationwide." The timing of the 2025 Women's March served as poignant counter programming to the first actions of the Ross Administration. Almost immediately after taking office, President Ross and extremist Republicans introduced a slew of Executive Orders and Presidential decrees to restrict and limit women's rights nationwide. Senator Krol blasted the President for, with the stroke of a pen, "undoing decades of progress and putting women, many in the very states that propelled her into the White House, into serious medical danger by limiting access to medication which induces abortions" and making it even harder for women in a medical emergency to receive the care they need. Senator Krol said "Women's health care needs are purely that - a health care need. No woman is seeking an abortion because she is bored on a Friday night and wants something to do. These are deeply personal, reflective decisions that women make in times of great stress and anxiety. We should be supporting and elevating women in these moments, not inserting new government barriers."
  5. Statement by Senator Krol on Ross Inauguration "It is incredibly disappointing to see, yet again, a Republican President take the oath of office despite losing the popular vote. Only once since 2000 has the Republican candidate received the most votes from the American people, and yet there have been four Republican inaugurations - 2001, 2005, 2017, and, now, 2025. The time has come where we must have a national conversation about the Electoral College and the inherent unfairness of that system. This is not to say that President Ross is an illegitimate President - she was rightly elected under the system we have in place in this country - but we need to have an honest dialogue on if this present system is the best system for choosing the most powerful person in the world. The Electoral College was designed to dilute the voices of the people and strengthen the power of the established governing class; that is not what we strive for in this country. I wish President Ross well in office but caution her to remember the millions of Americans who did not vote for her. I will work with Speaker Jeffries and my Senate colleagues to represent the majority of Americans and their desire for a competent, compassionate government that works for them, not corporate interests."

  7. Ross Cabinet Fundamental Return to Trump Era DNC Chairman Jon Krol (D-NY) expressed his extreme disappointment in President-elect Leah Ross' cabinet choices. Senator Krol called the announced choices "a slap in the face to the majority of Americans who voted for Senator Casanova-Davis and against the Ultra MAGA cult." He said that these cabinet choices "look like a ChatGPT answer to the prompt: 'Generate Donald Trump's second term cabinet'." Among the many dangerous disqualifications for her choices, Senator Krol highlighted: Former Senator David Perdue was one of the worst offenders for insider stock trading during his term in the Senate, and has been appointed to oversee the Treasury Department - another opportunity to enrich himself at the expense of the American people; Ellen Lord has served for decades in the military industrial complex, and has been named to lead the Department of Defense - giving herself the ability to send lucrative defense contracts to her deep network of friends and allies; Shane Ewing is fundamentally unqualified to serve as Attorney General, having only served as a prosecutor in Texas nearly a decade ago - making him the least qualified Attorney General in 40 years; As Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representative, T.W. Shannon pushed some of the most strict work requirements for SNAP benefits in the nation and in the history of the program and will now be given the keys to the Department responsible for assistance to Native Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Alaska Natives; James White continues to oppose same-sex marriages, even as recently as 2021, and is a known anti-vaxxer who has no experience in farming, livestock, resource management, or agriculture but will oversee a $141 billion agency entrusted to keep people fed and food supply chains moving; Carly Fiorina made her career laying off 30,000 workers - the largest layoffs in HP history - and her poor business decisions led to her being forced out by the board, but she has been chosen to protect labor interests in the federal government; His management of HUD in the Trump Administration resulted in massive government expenditures for personal dining sets and office decorations, combined with harmful policies about transgender Americans and their ability to access transitional housing, but Ben Carson has been entrusted with one of the largest budgeted government agencies responsible for ensuring the next pandemic doesn't leave 1,000,000 Americans dead; Clark Ervin was too extreme for re-appointed by the Bush Administration to a minor government oversight office but is in lockstep with the Ross Administration and has been chosen to lead efforts to keep our nation safe; and Allen West has no law enforcement experience, was forced into an early retirement from the U.S. Army for abusing and torturing an Iraqi civilian, and regularly advocates for Texas to secede from the Union, but President-elect Ross believes he is the best person to lead the FBI and enforce our laws. Senator Krol expressed concern about the vast majority of President-elect Ross' nominees, telling reporters "There is not one person on her nomination list I would vote to confirm - other than Vivek Murthy. The Surgeon General has done tremendous work on distributing Covid-19 vaccines, cannabis reform, breaking the stigma of mental health, ending gun violence, and addressing social media's negative affects on minors." Senator Krol pledged that Congressional Democrats would do "all within our power to hold these radical nominees accountable" through nomination hearings and regular government oversight panels, as well as "frequently informing the American people about what is happening behind the gears of bureaucracy."
  8. Kaberle Appoint DNC Vice Chair DNC Chair Jon Krol (D-NY) has appointed Senator Erik Kaberle (D-PA) as DNC Vice Chair. Senator Kaberle was recently re-elected by the people of Pennsylvania to a second term in the United States Senate, serving as a critical firewall in the Blue Wall Rustbelt. Senator Krol applauded Senator Kaberle as "one of the sharpest, most focused people in Washington" who will provide "thorough, detail-focused leadership" as Democrats prepare to take back control of Washington in 2026. Prior to his 2018 election to the Senate, Kaberle founded a successful sports analytics company with his brother and was a staple of local television. Senators Krol and Kaberle are committed to standing up to the incoming Administration on behalf of the American people and supporting Democrats up and down the ballot nationwide.
  9. Statement by Senator Krol on Introduction of Protecting Local Sports Act "Many New Yorkers remember the pain and rage they felt when trying to watch Aaron Judge's pursuit of Roger Maris' AL home run record. Despite games being played in the Bronx at Yankee Stadium, New Yorkers could not find those critical late season games because they were walled off on Apple TV - a limited-use app the few people have. There is no reason other than corporate greed that New Yorkers could not watch those historic at bats live on their televisions. I am proud to introduce the Protecting Local Sports Act to ensure that the local fans are at the center of sports - requiring that any streaming broadcast of a professional sports game is at least simulcast on a local over-the-air channel. The NFL already does this with Thursday Night Football on Prime Video; if the other major professional sports leagues do not want to follow suit and honor their fans, we will make them."
  10. Krol Re-Elected DNC Chair At a special meeting of the Democratic National Committee, Senator Jon Krol (D-NY) was re-elected unanimously to a second term as Chair of the DNC. Senator Krol thanked his colleagues for their enthusiastic support. Speaking to reporters afterwards, Senator Krol lamented that “the Ultra MAGA cult experienced a resurgence” in 2024 but said he was “so very proud of every Democrat who stood across the country.” He said that although Democrats came up short in the races for the White House and the Senate, “Democratic victories in the House show that we have a winning message when we speak directly to the American people.” Senator Krol said the incoming Senate Minority and House Majority would “hold the incoming administration accountable and keep the American people informed on how the Democratic Party is fighting for them.” He also thanked President Biden for his decades of leadership and service and wished him and Dr. Biden all the best.
  11. Name: Senator Jon Krol (D-NY) Media/Outlet: NBC Meet the Press Reason: Election results - I am incredibly proud of every Democrat who ran in 2024. We left everything on the field. And, unlike the Republicans, we can accept when we come up short and lose an election. - Congratulations of the President-elect. Congratulations to every Senator who was elected or re-elected - especially Senator-elect Gallego. And special congratulations to Speaker-designated Jeffries. The DCCC did yeoman’s work and expanded our map of competitive seats to secure a strong majority for the first African American Speaker. - I am committed to electing more Democrats in 2026 and holding the Republicans in Washington accountable for their dangerous Ultra MAGA agenda. The Senate Minority will not roll over and be a lapdog for the President-elect and her allies in Congress.
  12. Democracy Succeeds in Early Primaries The Democratic Party has successfully held the first three primary contests of the 2024 Presidential Primary. DNC Chairman Jon Krol (D-NY) applauded Senator Casanova-Davis, Governor Ridgeway, and Mayor Applegate on their respective victories, saying “We saw the smooth execution of a democratic process - something Democrats have mastered.” The primaries in South Carolina, Nevada, and New Hampshire were the first held under the new Democratic Primary calendar, shaped by President Biden, designed to promote a more representative electorate. Senator Krol said that the new calendar “has worked as intended” and is “presenting more candidates to a broader spectrum of the American people.” Senator Krol lamented “many figures in the MAGA Extremist Cult” who have used the first Republican primary contests “to continue their assault on democracy, propagating more and more unfounded and harmful lies” about voting systems. He said that “if any Democrat made such unfounded claims, I would use the full force of the DNC to quash those lies and spread the truth that our democracy is sacred and our elections are secure. I doubt I will see my Republican colleagues do the same.” Senator Krol said there “must be an unwavering, bipartisan commitment to returning to the norms of peaceful transitions of power and accepting election losses” in 2024.
  13. Statement by Senator Krol on the Unified Aid Bill "The Senate has the opportunity right now to pass the largest aid bill to Israel in decades while also showing our unwavering commitment to stopping Vladimir Putin's war of conquest in Europe. That some of my Senate colleagues would vote down this bill at all is a disgrace; that they'd do so simply because we're supporting the Ukrainian people is shameful. The last time a dictator was allowed to stroll across Europe and take what he pleased, we ended up in the Second World War, leaving millions dead and many more displaced and destitute. We cannot allow Putin to take Ukraine, because his next steps will be Poland, Romania, and Latvia; we know his goal is to rebuild the Russian Empire and construct a new Iron Curtain across Europe. We also know that President Xi is watching what we do in Ukraine as he eyes up Taiwan, and Kim Jong-Un as he tests nuclear weapons over Japan. We are at a cross roads globally and we have an obligation to respond on the side of freedom, democracy, and self-determination. America must continue to stand arm-in-arm with the Israeli and Ukrainian people - and all the free people of the world."
  14. Op-Ed: Thank You, President Biden: A Reflection on America Since 2020 Today, DNC Chairman Jon Krol (D-NY) published an op-ed in the New York Times recognizing the transformational domestic policy legacy of President Biden and Congressional Democrats. Senator Krol highlighted the astounding legislative agenda Democrats have been able to implement despite a 50-50 Senate and a narrow House majority - all before overcoming every historical trend and gaining ground in the 2022 midterm elections. Amongst the greatest achievements of the last four years, Senator Krol said afterwards, has been "our continued efforts to make life better for the American people, whether that's lowering prescription drug costs and capping insulin, working for student loan debt forgiveness, or repairing our roads, bridges, and highways." Senator Krol also highlighted that there is still work to be done, especially on continuing to bring down costs for consumers and restoring women's reproductive health rights, but said "Democrats are fully committed to working every day for the American people in the pursuit of a more perfect union."
  15. Name: Senator Jon Krol (D-NY) Media/Outlet: CNN Reason: Promoting the Unified Aid Bill America made a commitment after the Second World War to serve as the guarantor and defender of freedom, liberty, and self-determination across the globe. We must uphold our promises. Both Ukraine and Israel are facing horrible tragedies, resulting in large numbers of civilians deaths. Passing two separate aid bills at different times would be choosing one group and saying that their civilian deaths matter less than the other. President Biden has said he will sign the Unified Aid Bill. The Krol Amendments increased humanitarian aid and added critical oversight features. The Unified Aid Bill is the fastest - and most thorough - way to get aid out the door and into the hands of the Israeli and Ukrainian people.
  16. Democrats Lead on Foreign Aid, Republicans Obstruct Senate Democrats, led by DNC Chairman Jon Krol (D-NY), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Assistant Senate Democratic Leader John Starnes (D-VA), today presented the Unified Aid Bill of 2023 in the Senate to provide critical aid money to Israel and Ukraine, as they respond to the unprecedented atrocities committed against them. Senator Krol attempted to pass the bill immediately by unanimous consent but was blocked by Senator Michael Allen (R-SC) in a brazen show of obstruction. Speaking to the press outside of the Senate Chamber, Senator Krol said "I am very disappointed to see my Republican colleagues engage in such blatant partisan obstruction. We have a good, strong bill that the President has said he will sign - getting vital aid to both of our allies immediately. Instead they refuse to support the people of Ukraine - and in doing so harming democracies across the globe - while also blocking the largest aid package to Israel in decades." Both Israel and Ukraine are suffering at the hands of rogue hostile actors, with civilians, including women and children, bearing the brunt of these horrific attacks. Senate Democrats have presented amendments to increase humanitarian aid funding and ensure there is proper Congressional oversight of the funding. Senator Krol said that those amendments should both receive "a 100-0 vote" and the Unified Aid Bill should "be on the Resolute Desk by the end of the week. It is up to Speaker Johnson and his allies in the Senate what happens now." The Democratic Party stands firmly with President Biden's belief that both aid packages must be passed together as a single bill, in a show of strength and solidarity with the Israeli and Ukrainian people.
  17. Statement by Senator Krol on His Election as Chair of the DNC "I am beyond honored and humbled by this tremendous vote of confidence by my Democratic colleagues. I am fully committed to electing Democrats up and down the ballot, coast to coast; to protecting out front line incumbents and flipping seats in both Chambers; to bringing the Democratic message to places where Democratic voices haven't been heard before. We must acknowledge, and the Jon Krol DNC will, that every voter has the potential to be a Democratic voter if we treat them with the respect they deserve, answer their questions, and be honest with the American people."
  18. Statement on the Election of Senator Jon Krol as Chair of the DNC Today, the Democratic National Committee unanimously elected Senator Jon Krol (D-NY) to serve as the next Chair of the DNC. Senator Krol brings a wide depth of experience in local, state, and federal politics to the DNC, as well as successful careers in advocacy and Major League Soccer. Senator Krol is the first openly gay Chair of the DNC and the first Chair from New York since Ron Brown (1989-1993). Speaking after his election, Senator Krol said "My primary focus as Chair is to ensure that the era of MAGA extremism comes to an end. We've seen Democrats win up and down the ballot since 2016 and we must keep that momentum going strong by showing, at every opportunity, the stark differences between the Democratic vision for this country and the realities of Republican MAGA extremism. President Biden has been and continues to be a strong, transformative President; I thank him deeply for all he's done. As we work through our party process to select his successor, the 47th President of the United States, I will ensure that the DNC acts in an appropriately transparent, honest, and impartial manner."
  19. Press Office of the Democratic National Committee Senator Jon Krol (D-NY), Chair
  20. Statement by Senator Krol on the 2024 Presidential Election "The Democratic Party is already presenting itself with a diverse slate of strong candidates. I will not be a candidate for President, although I am wholly committed to ensuring President Biden's legacy is enshrined as one of the most consequential and transformative presidents in recent memory."
  21. Statement by Senator Krol on Israel and Hamas "As a Senator for New York, I represent more Jewish Americans than any person in this country. I've met with Jewish New Yorkers since the terrorist attack, and I've heard their fears about growing antisemitism - both at home and abroad. There is no place for antisemitism in our society. I unequivocally support Israel and the right of the Israeli people to defend themselves from barbarism and terrorism. Israel stood with the United States during our War on Terror and we must stand with Israel now. It was the correct course of action for Mr. Netanyahu to stand down and I look forward to building a relationship with Prime Minister Regev as Israel's response to the terrible actions of October 7th continues."
  22. Statement by Senator Krol on the Passing of Donald Trump “Donald Trump was a far-right extremist who dedicated himself to weakening America and our values for his own gain. He aimed to further himself at every opportunity regardless of how many Americans would suffer. From his hateful rhetoric on race to his attempted coup on January 6th, the legacy of Donald Trump is a stain on our national history. His passing is neither a day for celebration nor mourning, but a day for reflection on that legacy. I do extend my condolences to his family for the loss of their husband, father, and grandfather.”
  23. Official Biography Senator Jon David Krol (D-NY) has served in the United States Senate since 2023, having previously served as the Member of Congress for New York's 16th District from January 3, 2019 to January 3, 2023, Lieutenant Governor of New York from January 1, 2015 to January 1, 2019, and Mayor of White Plains, New York from January 1, 2009 to November 4, 2014. His parents, Francis David Krol and Marcia Alice Krol, were each first-generation Americans from German immigrant families. They raised Jon and his two older brothers, Thomas and Patrick, in Baltimore, Maryland. Francis worked in the print shop for the Baltimore Sun for many years, while Alice worked at the check out of a local grocery store. Jon worked hard in high school and earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Maryland, starring for the Maryland Terps Soccer Team for four years. After graduation, he was a successful player in Major League Soccer, anchoring the midfield for the Metrostars from 1999 to 2005, including an impressive performance as the club lifted the La Manga Cup in 2004. He was called up by United States Men's National Team Coach Bruce Arena for a pair of friendly matches in May 2003 but he was an unused substitute in both games. Following his athletic career, Jon founded the Safe Streets Coalition, a non-profit advocating for people-focused infrastructure and urban design, investments in public transit, and walkable neighborhoods. Jon helped teach local activists how to advocate effectively, led seminars on the importance of people-focused infrastructure, and spoke out on the dangers of larger, faster, heavier cars. This platform of advocacy led Jon to seek local elected office, being elected as Mayor of his adoptive hometown of White Plains, New York in 2008. In addition to his urban planning policies, Mayor Krol was also an active member of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition with Mayors Bloomberg and Menino. Governor Andrew Cuomo selected Mayor Krol as his running mate in the 2014 New York Gubernatorial election, praising the Mayor for his youth and commitment to advocating for the less fortunate. The Cuomo/Krol ticket was overwhelmingly elected in November and Jon resigned as Mayor to focus on the transition. As Lieutenant Governor, Jon was a champion for housing and public transit in Albany. At the Governor's direction, Lieutenant Governor Krol chaired 10 regional economic development councils to maximize the economic potential of the many distinct regions of the Empire State. He also led efforts against drug overdose deaths and sexual assaults on college campuses. Jon frequently sparred with Republicans in Albany on reproductive rights and was prepared to cast the tie breaking vote on a transformational reproductive rights in the New York State Senate when Republicans shut down the chamber and ended legislative business in a show of cowardice. Regarded nationally as a rising star in the Democratic Party, Jon was heavily recruited to run for the United States Congress in 2018. Jon was a frequent critic of President Donald Trump in Albany and felt it was appropriate to bring that fight to Washington. Jon entered the primary for the 16th District and defeated incumbent Congressman Eliot Engel after running on a platform of local engagement and local investment. As a Member of Congress, Representative Krol served on the Education and Labor and Science, Space, and Technology Committees, advocating for Westchester County. He voted for the 2019 impeachment of Donald Trump and defended Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation from Republican obstruction. While running for re-election to the House in 2020, Representative Krol was a staunch supporter of former Vice President Joe Biden's campaign for President and held several events and fundraisers for the Democratic ticket. After securing re-election, Jon was horrified by the attempted coup of January 6th, 2021 and vowed to take an aggressive stance against MAGA extremists. He supported the 2021 impeachment of Donald Trump as well as the bipartisan January 6th investigation resolution and the House Select Committee. Jon was proud to stand with President Biden and vote for the American Rescue Plan, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the Respect for Marriage Act. In 2022, Jon was elected to the United States Senate, succeeding the retiring Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. Jon is married to his husband, Adam Harrison (b. 1982, m. 2011). They live in White Plains with their son, Jackson (b. 2011), daughter, Vikki (b. 2013), and two golden retrievers, George and Hank. Adam is a book publisher in New York City.
